Rested, Relaxed, Rejuvenated.
Hope you are, too. Here's a list of some of the stuff I did over the last 10 days of freedom:
- Celebrated a fabulous Christmas at my parents' new house.
- Got lots and lots of loot.
- Saw tons and tons of movies, including The Royal Tenenbaums, The Endurance, Lord of the Rings, Fallen Angels, Moulin Rouge, Monument Ave., Shrek, With a Friend Like Harry, and I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting.
- Catsat Felix the cat.
- Celebrated nephew Kai's 1st birthday.
- Saw Antenna Theater's bizarre and not-at-all compelling Euphorium.
- Played the first-ever The Hill Have Eyes show. Man, did that feel great.
- Tried to go see the Ansel Adams centennial thing at SFMOMA, but the line was literally down the street and around the block. Literally.
- Went to an entirely different kind of art show, wherein tattooers and other folks I know showed their paintings. I fell in love with a painting my friend Jason did, and Tracy surreptitiously bought it for me and gave it to me for Christmas. She rules.
- Listened to Ella Wishes You a Swingin' Christmas and got all melancholy. I do this every year. Why? Hell if I know. ...
- Slept in almost every morning.
- Worked out almost every day.
- Made extravagant vegan feasts almost every night. Hopefully the working out counteracted the feasting.
- Got rained on more than I thought was physically possible.
- Got into a minor traffic accident (other driver's fault) in the midst of the worst rainstorm in recent memory. The car sustained absolutely no damage. Fancy that.
- Made very little headway on Infinite Jest. It's not that I'm not digging it; I am. But it requires such a commitment, and I'm not always ready to make it. The polar opposite of your beach-blanket vacation page-turner.
- Celebrated Tracy's birthday with friends at Millennium.
- Was in bed by 11 on New Year's Eve, woke up briefly at midnight to get kissed, and immediately went back to sleep.
It wasn't until yesterday, after nine consecutive days off, that I actually felt relaxed. That always seems to be the way, though; I get all acclimated to my newfound life of leisure just in time to return to the grind. But better late than not at all.
Other Bidness
A note about the cam pic in the left bar: I woke up in the middle of the night to pee, and thought my coiffure should be preserved for all time. So I took a pitcher. It came out way better than any of those glammy pitchers I usually have, don't you agree?
Tune in tomorrow for blawg.com's New Year's resolutions, unless I think of something else to write about instead. ßßß
Don't miss last week's brilliant insight.
